Castlefest Covid Updates

This page was last updated on: May 31st, 2021 at 14.38h

2020 was a challenging year and gave us many challenges. 2021 is also not yet back to the way we’re used to, but positive developments are following each other up rapidly. The Dutch government and event industry are very optimistic about the events taking place this summer.

This is why we expect Castlefest 2021 can take place from August 5th to 8th in a safe manner. Behind the scenes we’ve been working hard preparing this edition, to make it as magical as every other edition.

We understand many of you have questions about the oncoming edition, which safety measures will be in place and what effect they will have on the Castlefest experience. In this blog we will keep you updated on the situation as much as possible. At the top of this page you can read when this information was last updated. This way, you’ll always know if you have read the most recent version. Our information is based on the official national press conferences by the Dutch government.

At this moment we assume a negative test result is needed to visit Castlefest. We are still figuring out all the details, so we don't have all the answers yet. However, we will try to answer as many of your frequently asked questions as possible.

Will Castlefest 2021 take place?

Yes, at this moment we anticipate Castlefest taking place this year. We can’t predict the future, so there is still a small chance the situation will change. However, we don’t expect these changes and are counting the days until we can celebrate with you all!

Is it mandatory to take a Covid-19 test to enter the festival?

During a press conference by the Dutch government on May 28th 2021 it was announced that big events like Castlefest can take place, but with the measure of asking for a negative test result at the entrance. We're still figuring out the details, but we assume a negative test result is needed to enter Castlefest.

Below you will find frequently asked questions regarding the test policy.

Can I only enter when I’m vaccinated?

No. At this moment we assume a negative test result is needed to enter the festival grounds. This allows you to visit Castlefest, whether you are vaccinated or not.

What will happen with tickets for Castlefest 2021 when the event can’t take place?

If Castlefest unexpectedly cannot take place, the handling of the tickets depends on the situation at the time of cancellation. What are the current safety measures, how do the insurance companies and permit issuers act? As this will be a situation we are not yet familiar with, we cannot answer this question conclusively. However, we will make every effort to keep our visitors satisfied and find a suitable solution for everyone, just like we did in 2020. If cancellation occurs, we expect a similar situation in which we give everyone the opportunity to save their ticket for a next edition. In 2020, other options included donations and refunds.

What can we expect of Castlefest 2021?

It will be an amazing party just as you’re used to! We have an amazing line-up, merchants and caterers ready with all goods and we are looking forward to toast and celebrate with you from the festival grounds again.

Will fewer visitors be allowed this year?

We don't think so. For now we assume a full visitors capacity

Questions regarding the test policy

What kind of test is needed?

We're still working hard to figure out all details. As soon as we know more, we will update this page.

However, we assume a self test from local pharmacies and grocery stores does not suffice, because a negative test result needs to be presented through the CoronaCheck-app or as printed confirmation.

How can I get tested?

You can arrange a test through testenvoortoegang.nl

Can I be tested at the entrance of Castlefest?

No. We are still looking for possibilities for our foreign visitors, but in usual circumstances you need to be tested via testenvoortoegang.nl

What are the costs of a test?

As far as we know, getting tested through testenvoortoegang.nl will be free of charge.

I'm vaccinated already. Do I need to be tested as well?

We're still figuring this out. The information given at the press conference of May 28th by Hugo de Jonge contradicts the information given through testenvoortoegang.nl. We are following the updates on this carefully and will adjust this answer as soon as we have more information.

Do I need to keep a distance of 1.5 meters if we all get tested?

No, you don't have to keep your distance at Castlefest.

My test result came out positive, what now?

That's bad news! Of course we won't let you down. You can change your ticket into a virtual one to enjoy Castlefest from home or ask for a refund. Soon we will provide more information on this matter.

Do minors need to be tested?

By the looks of it, everyone of 12 years and older needs to be tested. Every child below 12 doesn't need a negative test result.

If a test result is only valid for 40 hours, do I need to be tested during the festival as well?

Unfortunately we don't have the answer to this questions yet. We are working on this and will investigate the options with all involved parties. As soon as we know more, we will update this answer.

I am volunteer/exhibitor/caterer/artist and staying longer at the festival grounds. Do I need to be tested more often?

Unfortunately we don't have the answer to this questions yet. We are working on this and will investigate the options with all involved parties. As soon as we know more, we will update this answer.

I am staying in a hotel / on a camping nearby / at home, but will be visiting Castlefest for several days. Do I need to be tested every day?

Unfortunately we don't have the answer to this questions yet. We are working on this and will investigate the options with all involved parties. As soon as we know more, we will update this answer.

In entertainment parks and zoos we need to register with our name. Will this be the same for Castlefest?

Yes, all tickets have to be put by name. We will arrange this with you before Castlefest takes place.

I come from abroad. Am I still welcome?

Of course we'd love to welcome everyone, but it is not for us to decide. The regulations on traveling are decided by both the Dutch government as well as your local government. We advise you to contact local authorities and ask if traveling to the Netherlands is allowed.

Information on traveling to the Netherlands from the Dutch government can be found here.

I am from abroad. How do I arrange a test?

Unfortunately we don't have an answer to this question yet. We are working hard on finding out all details with the involved authorities. As soon as we know more, we will update this answer.

I need to be tested to cross the Dutch border. Does this test count as a test for Castlefest as well?

Unfortunately we don't have an answer to this question yet. We are working hard on finding out all details with the involved authorities. As soon as we know more, we will update this answer.

I am from abroad. Can I be tested in The Netherlands?

We are investigating the possibilities for this via the official organisations and/or whether we can provide a service for this. Soon we hope to have more information on this.
