Asynje

A journey to the roots of the emotional and spiritual world of northern heritage

The Danish group Asynje returns to Castlefest with their unique and alluring fusion of electronics, traditional folk instruments and nordic singing style.

Asynje takes the audience on a journey to the roots of the emotional and spiritual world of northern heritage. Through the Nordic landscapes, Norse mythology and ancient Scandinavian folklore, they lead you through dreamy ethereal atmospheres to wild pagan dances with old danish spells, medieval ballads and Viking poems.

Asynje is among the pioneers in Scandinavia in the genre pagan viking neofolk since the late 90th. The group consists of known musicians from the alternative Danish folk-scene from orchestras such as Valravn, Virelai, Huldre, Trolska Polska and Heilung.

Asynje consists of:

  • Nanna Barslev - vocals
Martin Seeberg - viola, violin, flutes, etc.
Søren Hammerlund - hurdy gurdy, nyckelharpa, electronics, etc.
Troels Dueholm - flutes, hurdy gurdy, bouzouki
Jacob Lund - percussion and drums

Castlefest Sunday closes at 20.00h. Asynje's performance on Sunday is for camping guests only.
