Birgit Berg is a Dutch fantasy author who crafts stories where magic, mystery and emotion intertwine. Her writing leans into dark fantasy, known for its strong voice, psychological depth, and character-driven narratives that resonate long after the final page.
She wrote her first story on a typewriter as a child, and after earning her degree in Human Resource Management, she moved to Switzerland in 1993. Enchanted by the Bernese Alps, she stayed for 23 years. Since returning to the Netherlands in 2016, she has dedicated herself fully to writing and artistic creation.
Her Magia Trilogy — consisting of Lupidae, Drachion and Ekvilibro — tells the tale of a young woman who holds the key to restoring balance in a world teetering on the edge. Combining fast-paced action with emotional complexity, the trilogy explores loyalty, sacrifice, and inner transformation. The story is both epic in scope and deeply personal, following three protagonists as they navigate a world on the brink of chaos.
The trilogy is currently available in both Dutch and English, and has found a growing readership among fans of dark, character-driven fantasy with an edge.
Birgit is currently working on The Seer of Kischmet, the first book in a new fantasy trilogy expected in 2026. Set in the same world but with new faces and mysteries, the Kischmet Chronicles will explore the blurred lines between dream, magic and fate.
Beyond writing, Birgit is also the creator of handcrafted Exclusive Editions: individually painted books that are as much artwork as literature. Each piece is unique – carefully crafted, painted by hand, and infused with the essence of her storyworld. For Castlefest 2025, Birgit will bring a limited number of these special editions.
