In 2020, Cyrille Brotto and Stéphane Milleret, two emblematic diatonic accordionists from the European traditional music scene, had been playing as a duo for four years when they approached Michaël Fontanella to remix one of their singles, « Les trois cailloux ».
From this collaboration, a new musical trio project was born : Groove Factory. A meeting point between traditional and contemporary music, hip-hop, and electro. A playground where oral tradition, groove, and dance music intertwine.
Experimental and bold, the trio explores a composition style based on « glitches » , micro-samples juxtaposedrandomly, drawn from their influences and rooted in the Occitan territory. Between «unstoppable groove, electronic textures, and raw energy,» they craft a hybrid music designed as much for listening as for dancing.
In 2021, during a residency at « Le Club » in Rodez, Groove Factory refined its stage identity and recorded its first album, « Continuum... », accompanied by the music video Poudre de Perlimpinpin, directed by Léo Dadin. March 5, 2022, marked their first official performance at the Hibernarock festival (Cantal) and the album release. A European tour followed, with notable performances on major stages and festivals: Le Son Continu (36), Ététrad (Aosta Valley, Italy), Trad’Envie (32), Reno Folk Festival in Bologna (Italy), La Grande Marmite (46), Les Nuits Atypiques (33), Les Trad’hivernales (30), as well as renowned venues such as Le Club in Rodez, Le Rex in Toulouse, Le Café Charbon in Nevers, and Le 6Mic in Aix-en-Provence. In 2023, they invested in the Queyras region for the Queyras Factory project, a two-year residency with a dozen local musicians, resulting in an album and a stage production inspired by the traditional music of the Hautes-Alpes. The year 2024 marks new artistic explorations : continuing the Contnuum tour, finalizing the Queyras Factory project, and a creative residency in Catalonia with the group Groovin’CAT during the Fira Mediterrània festival in Manresa (Catalonia). 2025 was just as intense, with the release of their third album, « Nexus », in June, an opus that further expands their sonic playground.
At the crossroads of acoustic and electronic worlds, Groove Factory pushes boundaries and invites the audience to an immersive and vibrant experience.
