Beck Palmas (Amsterdam, 1971) always felt they lived in multiple worlds at once, the 'real' world and the worlds in their head. Being a neurodiverse person themselves, Beck finds representation and diversity, in different aspects, an important theme. Sometimes it's subtle, part of the background of the story, sometimes it is a vital element of the story itself. Beck also uses their background in psychology, their roleplay- and larp characters, and a generous dose of fantasy to brew their stories.
Beck has been writing since childhood, short stories, novels and the occasional poem, both in English and Dutch. Most of the stories fall in the wide spectrum of fantasy and science fiction.
Several of Beck's stories have been published in anthologies. Earlier this year, their first books were published: Star Child (the English version) and Sterrenkind (the Dutch translation). They are the first books of the Nightstar stories, a science fiction series. The next books, Shadow Child and Schimmenkind, are due to appear later this year.
Beck is married and has two daughters. When they're not wandering around in the world of dreams, Beck lives together with their partner, two cats and lots and lots of books.
