Hindarfjäll, founded in 2015 by Nils Edström on the west coast of Sweden, is a musical constellation dedicated to exploring the depths of Norse beliefs, traditions, and mythology. With an evocative blend of lyrical storytelling and compositions inspired by Swedish folk music, the band strives to bring ancient Scandinavian culture to life, illuminating a worldview rooted in the interplay between divinities and men.
Drawing inspiration from a time when humanity lived in harmony with nature, Hindarfjäll’s music serves as a bridge to archaic thoughts and notions. The songs explore and interpret everything from myths, rites, and customs to the ways the ancients lived and thought, shaped by their beliefs, values, and deep connection to their mystic world.
The band's signature sound is characterized by majestic choral arrangements, thunderous percussion, soothing flutes, and the ethereal resonance of lyres. Together, these elements create an immersive musical landscape that celebrates the nuanced complexity of Norse traditions. Hindarfjäll’s work is deeply rooted in the principles of plurality, circular thinking, and the sentience of nature, offering a modern lens on ancient customs.
In 2020, Hindarfjäll joined Grimfrost Records and has since released three albums, as well as a standout single featuring the actor who portrayed Harald Finehair in the hit TV series Vikings.
Hindarfjäll’s third studio album, Seden, released on August 16th, 2024, delves deep into the Nordic way of life, examining the profound meanings behind rituals, myths, and Gods. This latest chapter firmly establishes Hindarfjäll as a vital voice in the revival of ancient Scandinavian culture.
