The ‘Huurlingen van de Lage Landen’, a late 15th-century reenactment group, bring the late Middle Ages to life at Castlefest. Reenactment involves recreating historical events and daily activities based on historical sources, allowing us to bring history to life in vivid detail.

Step into our fully furnished camp and experience daily life as it was back then. As you stroll through the camp, you can visit a fully equipped painters studio where talented artists work with various traditional techniques and materials. Beyond the painters studio, we demonstrate a variety of historical crafts that shaped life in the Middle Ages. Discover the process of making hand-sewn clothing, historical cooking, pewter casting, wood carving, and more.

Our members also provide insights into the rich history of medieval clothing and weaponry. Learn all about the styles and symbolism of 15th-century attire, weapons, and armor, and uncover the complexity and craftsmanship behind them.
