Rianne Werring (1988) has a passion for words. Turning her love of books and writing into a full-time job is her childhood dream come true. She studied Literary Studies at Leiden University, became a book reviewer and editor for www.fantasyboeken.org – the first Dutch website focussed solely on reviewing YA, sci-fi and fantasy books – and these days she doctors manuscripts and edits other people’s work as a part of her own business: www.midgard-manuscripten.nl. Her favourite authors include Victor Hugo, Djuna Barnes and Patti Smith – and many, many more…
She started out publishing short stories in 2014 and continues to do so until this day – keep an eye out during November of this year for the next publication! At the end of 2018, her first non-fiction work appeared in stores: Van Hoofdletter tot punt. Bullet Journal voor Schrijvers (From CAPS to points: a bullet journal for authors): a booklet with writing advice, tips and tricks and assignments. In 2019 her debut novel hit the shelves: a reworking of Amadeus Mozart's The Magic Flute. After that, her family was given priority, and work slowed down a bit.
Until 2023. Under the pen name Victoria Flora, in collaboration with Rosemary Hart, the Cymrion-series was published: four dark romance novels concerning the trials and tribulations of Isolda, bastard princess of Cymrion, and her relationship with Adalfonskar, the foreign prince who wages war on her country. And of his servant Megangar, who has a very intimate friendship with his master…
At this moment, she’s writing a prequel to this series, telling of the adventures of Adalfonskar and Megangar before they ventured to Cymrion. In 2024, her steamy novella Werklust (A passion for work) appeared, and this year (2025) her second novel came out: De gebroeders Lazarus (The Lazarus brothers), a steampunk novel set in a culture inspired by Spanish language and culture.
You can meet and greet with Rianne at the Nimisa Publishing House stand at Castlefest on August 1st and 3rd (Friday and Sunday)!
