Wianda Rozendaal

Wianda Rozendaal (Zutphen, 2000) prefers to see the world through the eyes of a child: filled with curiosity, sincerity and wonder. She is looking for a lifestyle that revolves around asking questions and experimenting. Like it’s play! Without judgement. She often writes for children and young adults and also enjoys experimenting with alienation and fantastical elements in her work.

During her bachelor's degree in Media and Culture in Utrecht, she quickly joined Studio M, an organisation that offers students the opportunity to realise their creative media projects together. Wianda worked there for a year as a project supervisor, after which she realised that (screen)writing really is her greatest passion.

In 2024, Wianda published her debut: De Trein Waarin Het Regent (published by Nimisa Publishing House) after she published a short story in the collection Legenden Langs de Kust (published by Nimisa Publishing House, 2023). In the third and fourth year of her screenwriting studies at the Netherlands Film Academy, she co-wrote Moksha (Joey van Eykel and Jeroen van Duijvenbode, 2025), a short, dark animated film about a scientist who has to save the last fallen star, and together with Maud Coense she wrote De Kleine Hoteldetective (Julia van Braak, 2025), an adventure film for the whole family, in which young Billie has to discover which of the hotel guests is the mysterious inspector …

In the future, Wianda wants to continue her passion as a writer for books, live action film and animation and she plans to put a lot of stories for youth and family films on paper, while also continuing to use fantastical elements in her writing.
