Yvette Hazebroek

It is Yvette's dream to write a book. It is the course she has followed for years, and helps her make choices.

"For as long as I can remember I have been writing. When my parents took me out to dinner as a small child, I wrote stories on napkins. Later, in grade school, I made up dozens of stories to put in my own made-up newspaper. As I got older, writing continued to play a big role.

In 2002, she won third prize in an Almere writing contest with a story on the theme of Polder Power Flevo Pride. During high school, Yvette wrote for the youth newspaper in Almere, and after havo she went to study journalism, after which she spent six months in New York to pursue a master's degree in Media & Arts.

She worked at several music magazines and briefly wrote for the fantasy news site Irokuro.

In 2016, she decided it was time for something bigger and began expanding a short story she had written earlier that year. In four months, Yvette wrote 80,000 words, only to delete another 8,000. The manuscript grew into Bay and the piraenauten, which has since seen the light of day at Publishers, an exciting steampunk novel about a girl searching for her little brother.
