The Double Basses and their friends

The Double Basses and their friends …are a moving streetperformance act that flows through the audience like a melody. Two double bass bikes are the heart of the group accompanied by two actors being the “Wandelende Notenboom” and the playful “Vrolijke Noot”. The performance is all about chance meetings, amazement and interaction with a central theme “music”… But be aware – this will be not in de form of actual music but more the visual reference. Music is all about harmony and resonance – just like human interaction! So – dearest visitors of Castlefest – come closer and see if you can spot the collected instruments and the musical notes – use your eyes and not your ears!

It’s been four years since Pro’s & Contra’s journey has lead them to a very important realization. Patriamus Tchaikovsky has let our adventurers on their extravagant vehicles along a lot of places where the melody was in harmony with the surrounding. During their quest for more instruments and knowledge our three travelers have met a lot of people and made new friends: Contra has the “Vrolijke Noot” on a leash and a walking “Notenboom” has joined as well.“Vrolijke Noot” is bouncing around and feels like a nutcracker at times and a treble clef at other times. He is playing with his instruments by letting them go and passing them on.

The “Notenboom” hasn’t always been the tree she is now. Long, long time ago she was a weeping willow situated in a quiet and forgotten scenery. One day a nightingale landed on her branches with a warm legato that turned night into day. The willow flourished to her tunes and what started of as a chance meeting turned into a deep romance. When winter approached the bird had to leave and travel South. They said goodbye in sorrow. The bird left the willow with the words: “We will be reunited if we reach the right frequency!”
It appeared that his words were some kind of spell because the weeping willow started to change. Nuts started to grow from her branches containing various sounds: musical tones. And since she was looking for connection and resonance – the tree shared the words of the nightingale with her new friends…

Patriamus Tchaikovsky who doesn’t need to show the way anymore so he could finally focus on his passion: the violin. His tunes accompany the quartet that is looking for people and encounters and so they return to Castlefest where the feeling of home is most prominent…
