Sascha’s distinctive, emotive, and powerful vocals—often compared to The Cranberries’ Dolores O’Riordan—are complemented by enchanting melodies and the extraordinary, harmonious interplay between electric guitar and violin. The tight and energetic performances by the IJsbrandij brothers on drums and guitar provide a solid foundation, which, combined with dynamic piano and keyboard compositions, results in a symphonic richness that leaves a lasting impression. After their debut EP Ethereal Storms in 2017, Solarcycles released their first full-length album LUNAR at the end of 2023. The album received widespread praise, with ‘Folk N Metal’ calling it “a monumental achievement” and crowning it “Best Folk Metal Album of 2023”, stating: “The album reflects a deeper understanding of their craft, and it’s great to see how far this band has come. This was a great year in Folk Metal, and Solarcycles stands on top.” Jaap Koper of 3voor12 (VPRO) aptly described the album as: “The way Solarcycles combines the folk element with metal makes the sound unique. Lunar (the band's album) is epic and actually already legendary.” Folk-Metal.nl added: “Solarcycles is strikingly capable of making their sound magical. Likewise, there are some standout guitar moments and, like an added vocalist, the violin does a great job providing melody.”
